Staying hydrated is essential to good health. but it is also a great way to shed pounds.

Have you ever been at the gym and you notice those people who carry around a jug of water. It’s usually guys with really great physiques. They know that water is important when burning lots of calories. It certainly staves off dehydration and it also reduces hunger.

I decided to give it a try for two reasons: 1) I wanted to cleanse my body and I knew water is essential to cleansing, 2) I knew that drinking more water leads to less food consumption which equals weight loss.

Drinking a gallon of water, however, isn’t an easy thing to do. I decided to create a plan for drinking 128 ounces of water in one day. My plan was to do this for 7 straight days using the following schedule.

8 am….21 oz

10 am…21 oz

12 noon…21 oz

2 pm…21 oz

4 pm…21 oz

6 pm…21 oz

Days 1 and 2 were hard. I was only able to drink half a gallon. That was partly due to me not starting the water until 11 am. I just couldn’t replace my coffee for water on those days.

Days 3 and beyond, were great. I stuck to the plan that I created and realized quickly that drinking that much water curbed my appetite. It was actually like a choice. During my water hours, it was choice of eating less and drinking water, or eating normal and drinking less of the water.

The end results were rewarding. When I began I weighed 162 lbs, but by day 7 I weighed 159 lbs.

I’ms not saying weight loss was entirely due to drinking one gallon of water, but I do know that drinking that much water caused me to reduce calories.

Here’s an important tidbit of information: according to medical research, drinking a gallon of water can be hazardous to your health if its’ drank to quickly and if your sodium intake is too low. So do your research before starting this task.
